I built a tool for my own content problem… now 3 people are paying for it
I didn’t plan to build a SaaS. This started as a personal frustration. Since AI blew up, I stopped enjoying writing blogs myself. So I did what everyone else does, used AI tools, generated content, pushed it to WordPress, optimized with Yoast (90+ scores and all that). On paper, everything looked perfect. But something always felt… off. The content didn’t sound like me. The structure wasn’t how I usually write. External links felt forced. It was “optimized” but not *mine*. I tried tweaking prompts, different tools, workflows… still not what I wanted. What I actually needed was simple: * Content in my tone (based on what I’ve already written) * Ability to follow my blog structure * SEO that doesn’t feel robotic * External links that fit naturally, not shoved in Couldn’t find anything that did this properly. So I built a small tool for myself. Nothing fancy at the start. Just: * Upload my past blogs → train tone * Select structure → generate content accordingly * Add keywords + basic SEO layer * Auto-suggest relevant external links (that actually make sense) I started using it for my own blogs. Then I shared it with a couple of freelance clients I was working with. Didn’t pitch it. Just said, “try this if you want.” They used it. Then one of them asked, “is there a paid version?” That was the moment it hit me. Right now it has 3+ paid users. Small, but honestly feels great because: * It solves a real problem I had * People are willing to pay for it * And it actually improves how content feels, not just scores You can [**try it here**](https://app.serpial.com/) I also added a keyword research feature because most tools out there are either too expensive or overkill. Still early. Still messy. But this is probably the first time something I built feels like it has real potential. Would love to know your thoughts and how did you grow beyond those initial paid users?
The project demonstrates strong founder-market fit by solving a personal pain point that has already converted into initial revenue, proving a baseline willingness to pay. However, the startup operates in a hyper-competitive 'red ocean' of AI content tools with low technical moats, making long-term defensibility and scaling significant challenges for a solo founder.
